Mid-shaft clavicle fractures

• Even if significantly shortened virtually all will heal well. X-rays may not stabilize until 12 weeks or show good callous formation until 12 months. No need to repeat X-rays more than once.
• Activity as tolerated after initially wearing sling for approximately two weeks.

 

Buckle distal radius fractures

• Tailor management to child and activity level. If active full cast for 6 weeks. If mature and unlikely to reinjure may cast for 2 weeks then removable splint for 4 weeks.
